Since August 2021, our primary focus has been on addressing the Afghan refugee crisis. We work to welcome asylum seekers and guide them through the resettlement process.

Husayn for Humanity

Husayn for Humanity is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2019 by dedicated members of the Afghan-American community. Our mission is to serve humanity while upholding and sharing the inspiring teachings of Imam Husayn, an influential figure in Islamic history whose legacy embodies compassion, justice, and selflessness. Husayn for Humanity, based in Northern Virginia, serves communities across Virginia and Washington, D.C., providing humanitarian support to all in need, grounded in the compassionate principles of our faith.

Projects

Homeless Outreach in D.C

Provided meals and care packages to hundreds experiencing homelessness.

Ramadan Food Delivery

Delivered food to families affected by COVID-19 in Northern Virginia, in collaboration with Imam Ali Center.

Hospital Visits

Offered emotional support by visiting individuals in hospitals.

Donors and Partners

Our work at Husayn for Humanity is made possible through the generous support of dedicated partners and donors. We are grateful for the impact we achieve together in uplifting communities and supporting those in need.

Department of Defense

Partnered with Husayn for Humanity to coordinate in-kind donations, providing critical assistance to over 12,000 Afghan refugees temporarily housed at Fort Pickett, Quantico, and Fort Lee military bases.

Deloitte

Selected Husayn for Humanity as an IMPACT Day organization from 2021 to 2023. Deloitte provided funds and volunteers who contributed to grocery packaging, newborn baby supplies, children’s activities, and mentorship programs for young adults.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

VFW volunteers assisted weekly in organizing our donation center, helping to manage and distribute resources for Afghan newcomers resettling in Northern Virginia.
